A LITTLE STORY ABOUT WHY THIS BLOG EXISTS
After years of text messaging, what first seemed to be the most succinct, silent and least social (and, hence, best) form of communication suddenly began to seem . . . let us just say . . . a little menacing. Could it be that the text message was not such a simple way to communicate? Was it possible that the text message wasn’t the natural carrier of our hopes, dreams and slightly odd sexual desires? Might it be said that the text message was even more difficult than the email? The telefax? Or IM? And if all this was true, what was the secret to understanding this little bugger of the communication world? Well, this blog is dedicated to exactly that. Mixing the high-brow academic writings of communication theory and some saucy real-world examples, this blog seeks to understand the text message both individually, and as a general (and quite precarious) form of communication.
